Design Brief

Calibre’s design ability enabled whole house indoor climate control and mechanical ventilation to be sensitively incorporated within this listed building. Invisible equipment and discreet detailing were key to the success of this project. External equipment was installed within an acoustic garden ‘shed’ to meet planning policies and noise impact on neighbouring properties.

Solution

Ducted fan coil units were installed in all living areas including attenuation within sleeping areas.

Mechanical ventilation with supply and extract attenuation was installed to provide fresh air to kitchen bathrooms and sanitary accommodation.

The condensers were installed at the rear of the property within an acoustic enclosure, and a breathable garden ‘shed’ was constructed around this zone to hide the units.

Calibre provided the acoustic specification to ensure that the noise when running at high capacity would be within industry requirements, and assisted in the design to ensure that sufficient volumes of supply and extract air movement would be available. With our assistance the planning requirement was exceeded, and a visually attractive feature was added to the garden space.
