Basements

The increasing trend for properties, with their ease of use for new leisure and wellness facilities, extra living and accomodation space.

Adding lower-ground or sub ground-level living is an increasing trend among property owners for improving the experience of home and increasing their real estate value. Basements are particularly appreciated for their swift increase in the footprint of a property to be used for leisure and wellness facilities, additional living space, and enhanced accommodation areas.

Being below ground-level does however greatly reduce the natural infiltration or direct access to fresh air that above-ground levels naturally benefit from. This has to be mitigated with mechanical ventilation according to Building Regulations Part F. This is usually provided via mechanical ventilation heat recovery systems, which gently filter and provide tempered fresh air to indoor spaces, at rates determined by an overriding design which is produced to adequately satisfy not only the minimum requirements of Building Regulations, but the specific requirements of the residents ascertained through the architectural design process.
